BL-3
  Location 0.5 cun within the anterior hairline, vertically above the medial canthus of the eye. How to find BL-3 is located directly above the medial canthus of the eye (➞ BL-1) and 0.5 cun within the anterior hairline (➞ 3.1.1). Located on the same level (0.5 cun within the anterior hairline) are ➞Du-24 (on the midline), ➞G.B.-15 (on the pupil line), ➞ G.B.-13 (3 cun lateral to the midline) and ➞ST-8 (on the corner of the forehead). Needling 0.5–1 cun obliquely in a dorsal direction or transversely (subcutaneously). According to some classic texts, moxibustion is contraindicated.
