KID-17

Location
2 cun superior to the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
How to find
The distance between the sternocostal angle (➞3.5) and the centre of the umbilicus is divided into 8 proportional cun, which can vary considerably from the patient’s finger cun. Therefore, only proportional cun should be used (elastic tape ➞ 2.3.1). From the centre of the umbilicus, measure 2 cun in a superior direction and on this level locate KID-17 0.5 cun lateral to the midline. Located on the same level are ➞ Ren-10 (on the midline), ➞ ST-23 (2 cun lateral to the midline) and Ex-CA (weishang, 4 cun lateral to the midline).
