P-5
Location 3 cun proximal to the anterior wrist joint space (‘most distal wrist crease’), between the tendons of the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis muscles. How to find As the location of the wrist crease varies, the wrist joint space is a more reliable reference point (➞ 3.3.3). It can easily be palpated by moving the patient’s hand in a relaxed way. From the centre of the joint space (➞ P-7), measure 3 cun in a proximal direction and locate P-5 between the two tendons, which become more pronounced when the fingertips are pressed together. If only one tendon is visible, this will be the tendon of the flexor carpi radialis muscle. P-5 is located at its ulnar aspect.
