Location 7 cun proximal to the dorsal wrist joint space (‘dorsal wrist crease’), between the radius and the ulna. How to find From the wrist joint space (➞ 3.3.3, more accurate reference point than the variable dorsal wrist crease), measure 7 cun in a proximal direction and locate T.B.-9 in a depression between the extensor digitorum communis muscle and the extensor carpi ulnaris muscle. Alternatively, measure 5 cun distally from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. T.B.-9 is located on a line connecting the midpoint of the dorsal wrist joint space and the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. Or: Spreading hands technique (➞ 2.3.3): Place the little fingers on the cubital crease and the wrist joint space (➞ 2.2) respectively and join the thumbs at the midpoint of this distance (12 cun). From the midpoint of this line, measure 1 cun in a proximal direction and there locate T.B.-9 between the radius and the ulna.
