Location
In a depression on the upper border of the zygomatic arch, approximately 1 cun anterior to the root of the ear, superior to ➞ST-7.
How to find
Locate the zygomatic arch (➞3.1.2) by palpating from the root of the ear (root of the helix) approximately 1 cun towards the orbit.
Follow its course by placing one finger above and the other finger below the arch. As soon as the lower finger has reached a clearly palpable depression anterior to the temporomandibular joint and posterior to the masseter muscle (➞ST-7), the upper finger will be resting on G.B.-3, which is located directly superior to ➞ST-7 in a shallow depression on the superior border of the zygomatic arch.
