Location At the midpoint of a line connecting the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) and the greater trochanter, at the anterior border of the iliac crest. How to find First, locate the ASIS (➞ 3.5), the highest point on the anterior aspect of the iliac crest, by palpating along the upper border of the iliac crest in an anterior and inferior direction. At its anterior end, the ASIS can be palpated as a bony ridge on the lateral aspect of the lower abdomen. With the patient lying on their side and their leg slightly flexed, locate the greater trochanter (➞ 3.6), a clearly marked bony structure in the region of the hip joint. G.B.-29 is located at the midpoint of a line connecting these two reference points.
